So, the first part of the #spectrial has ended. It has been amusing. The verdict will be available at 11 am on the 17th of April. So there is 9 months, 21 days, 19 hours, 39 minutes, 24 seconds ago left..
Wikipedia’s Spectrial article is updated continuously.
A Swedish record store says that they sell more records, and say that file sharing can have positive outcome. (Video).

Yesterday, the prosecution were giving their closing arguments in court. Roswell calls for jail time. Wadsted eats sparrows? Summaries from yesterday’s session in court:
A torrent from yesterday’s court session.

Yesterday, Wadsted pulled out some really funny stuff. You can listen to it on Youtube.
To consume films and TV shows through The Pirate Bay is like lying on your back and let fried sparrows fly into your mouth, regardless of whether or not you’re hungry. The sparrows are also piled up around you so you can consume them whenever you want, requiring no effort on your part.
Monique Wadsted
(Translation stolen from The Daily T)
“I believe that the correct punishment is a year in prison and that is what I ask from the judge in this case,” Roswll said in court yesterday. Gottfrid responded dryly, “I was surprised that he did not ask for more, I expected he would require two years in prison but he asked for only one! The old bastard’s crazy.”

The Norwegian department of IFPI ordered Norway’s largest Internet service provider Telenor to prevent their customers from accessing The Pirate Bay. After some days of consideration, Telenor told IFPI they will not block access to The Pirate Bay. But it does not end there. They say that even though they have sympathy for the right holders, it Telenor can’t be held responsible for crimes comitted by their customers. They even said that it is the movie and record industry’s problem. “- The problem is that the business model for sale of digital content is out-dated and they have not adapted to the Internet age”. Telenor also says that it can be done successfully, and refers to iTunes and Telenor’s own online music store, and adds the enormous market for ring tones and mobile phone games.
IFPI has said that they are considering taking Telenor to court..
….maybe it’s about time someone sues IKEA for making knives?

Roger Wallis, who was called as witness in the Spectrial, is now the name on everyone’s lips. He was fried in court by the industry lawyers, who tried to discredit his qualifications. “What are you so worried about?” Wallis asked Danowsky. “I’m not worried, it’s you who ought to be worried,” replied IFPI’s lawyer Danowsky. This resulted in the judge calling for a break, whereas Wallis shouted “What people! God bless Sweden” while leaving the court room.
Later, at the end of the second part of the witness hearing, Wallis was asked if he wanted any reimbursement for showing up in court. He said that the court was welcome to send some flowers to his wife.
Naturally, the court could not assist with that. People on EFNet started joining #wallisflowers, and soon the web page http://yodo.se/wallis was put up, and people started ordering flowers for Roger Wallis and his wife.
Here is a video from Sydsvenskan. He also received an e-mail from the Swedish artist Timbuktu.
After just a short performance in the Spectrial, Roger Wallis became a real hero! Flowers for over $5000 in a few days, a ton of media articles! Thank you, Wallis!

Henrik Danstrup, the producer of Pusher 3, says to the Danish radio DR that he finds it weird that Antipiratbyrån, on behalf of Nordisk Film is suing The Pirate Bay for 150 000 SEK in damages for his movie. He says that he does not mind file sharing, and says he has sympathy with the fileshares, and that Pirate Bay is being sued against his will!

Today’s session in court was some sort of disaster. The first expert witness told the court several times that he did not have technical knowledge about the Bittorrent protocol. The second expert witness said something like “no it is not documented anywhere, but I would like to remind that I am under oath” (i.e. I can’t prove it, but please please trust me when I’m saying this….)
Looking forward to more nonsense tomorrow!
Lawyer Monique Wadstedt and author Carina Rydberg started a pro-copyright campaign on Facebook. But what are friends on Facebook anyways? Here is a quote from Torrentfreak:
In a desperate move to amp up her case against The Pirate Bay, prosecuting lawyer Monique Wadsted has asked authors for quotes and support in preparation for her closing arguments next Monday. Unfortunately for her, the friendly request backfired as a befriended author turned out to be a fanatical Pirate Bay supporter.
What can we say? In your face!
In the light of the increased interest for illegal filesharing in Norway, Asbjørn Engedal and freelance journalist Simon Eriksen Valvik from Norway decided to start a project about illegal filesharing. This has now resulted in a documentary titled “Urospredere“. A large number of people have participated in this project, among them from IFPI, The Data Inspectorate, Director Harald Zwart (Cool guy - says it’s ok to pirate), Piratbyrän, Sosialistic Youth, Minister of Culture and Church Affairs.
The movie is now finished, and you can buy tickets to the preview in Oslo, Norway due the 27th of March. A trailer is also available on the project’s web page.
When questioned in court today regarding documentation about the material that the torrent files points to, Anders Nilsson from the Swedish Anti Piracy Agency said that “The problem with Pirate Bay, is that Pirate Bay is so enormously large”! Size does matter! Hail King Kong!

Magnus Mårtensson, IFPI’s lawyer is currently getting fried in court! He has gathered “evidence” about filesharing, and his performance so far has not been very impressive. No technical education, “I don’t know” repeated too often, no clue about the BT technology, and yet he is acting as an expert witness in court, presenting “evidence”.
Time to fetch some popcorn!

LABS also made a post about some nice “AVAILABLE ONLINE FOR FREE” stickers, with .eps file for download. Time for taking a trip to the store to put a new price tag on your favorite movies?

The Swedish radio station P4 posted a page with some sort of a contest, where they ask people to make a hit song of some Swedish lyrics about pirates, filesharing and beards. This has got to be inspired by Anakata’s beard. You can even listen to the song on the web page.
More music about pirates and filesharing appeared on the Intarnut:
From last week, but still HOT stuff! Officer Roseland, a band from Philadelphia, is offering their new album Stimulus Package for downloading. Nothing new to that stuff. BUT - This band gives you a choice: Either you pay them a dollar for downloading their album, OR CHOOSE TO GET PAID ONE DOLLAR to download their album! Read more here (English) or here (Swedish) - or check the band’s page.
